Jarring Ads That Completely Halt Gameplay? Sign Me Up!

No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No… No.

Sony has the BRILLIANT idea of integrating ads into games that act exactly as commercials do on TV. That is to stop the game completely run a quick video or whatever selling you some product you probably don’t want because you’re playing a goddamn game at that very moment.

It works in a way that to shareholders and company execs seems unintrusive, giving a warning, slowing gameplay and slowly fading in. Then after a few seconds and giving a warning that the game is going to begin again, fades away and the game resumes. But to the everyman, THIS SHIT IS UNACCEPTABLE.

I paid $60 dollars for this game, far more than I probably should. I paid top dollar and you have the nerve to stop me from playing so you can sell me some fucking tampons or something, I don’t know.

I know companies make a lot of patents so they can reap benefits for ideas. Just because they register them doesn’t mean they’ll use them. The problem is is that now that this is out there and someone took the initiative to make it a somewhat solid idea, someone else will take it *coughActivisioncough*.

And you know they’d do it too.
