Team Fortress 2 is now free to play

And it only took 4 years.

At the end of the amusing “Meet the Medic” short video released today, Valve finally announced that their 2007 hit multiplayer game, Team Fortress 2, is now free to play. While this news is hardly surprising given the age of the game and the new additions they have been adding on a regular basis to their in-game store, it is a welcome change.

To those who are interested but never played TF2, it is a class-based team first person shooter which is available on Steam for both the PC and Mac. It also came out for the Xbox 360 and the PS3, but it is highly unlikely that it will be free on those platforms.

Now that is free, there’s hardly any reason not to at least try it. Well, maybe if you don’t like hats, but that’s your own business.
