Persona 4 Comes to the Vita as well as the Fighting Game Genre

Well, that was only halfway expected.

Update: has images of the fighting game. Seems like it is 2D sprites using their Personas to fight.

According to a news article on 1up, Persona 4 will finally make it’s way to another console besides the PS2. This time, it’s heading to the PSVita and, besides the obligatory touch-ups like more animations and voicework, will feature some signifigant content additions. Dubbed “Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4: The Golden,” this version will see a new character, Mary, joining the cast as well as adding network support for other players to assist you in dungeons. Currently, it has a broad release date in Japan of 2012.

What is far more surprising is what is coming to the Xbox 360 and the PS3. Created by Arc System Works, a 2D fighting game called “Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena” is in¬†development.¬†Set two years after the events of Persona 4, it will feature characters from the previous two Persona games. Based on Arc System’s previous works, it’s not a stretch of the imagination to assume that this game will also be a 2D sprite-based fighter.

On top of all that, there is still the Persona 4 anime coming this year. With all these Persona 4-based games, I fully expect Atlus to announce “Persona 4: Aiya’s Beef Bowl Challenge” for the 3DS. The third dimension, obviously, is the Meat Dimension.
