Japanese Imports Straight From Japan

Sony has decided to do something, while not unheard of, a step in the right direction.

On May 3rd, 2007, Sony launched the PSOne Classics line on Playstation Network. It enabled people to buy their favorite Playstation 1 games and play them on a PS3. While paying for ROMs is a concept I do not enjoy, playablility is guaranteed.

On September 21st, 2010, Sony added on this. They brought to the table PSOne Japanese imports. Completely untouched, original PSOne games never released in North America.

Back in the day, games not being localized wasn’t nearly as a big a deal as it is now. Now gamers expect that any game made be available to all. And Sony is well aware of this, which is why they chose to make the PS3 region free, bar a few that are locked on disk.

As of now, there are only two titles available; Cho Aniki and GaiaSeed with rumours saying Outlaws Of The Lost Dynasty, Blockids and Magical Drop F are on their way in the future.

Here’s hoping LSD makes it over.
